1) How do I change the app language?

Go to Settings > Language (or Language Selection) and choose “App Language”. Restarting the app may help apply changes instantly.


2) How do I change the search language?

Go to Settings > Language and choose “Search Language”. This affects the language of AI results.


3) Why are some features locked?

Some advanced AI features are available with Premium. Free users will see an upgrade prompt when attempting to access Premium-only sections.


4) What does Premium include?

Premium may include:

- Advanced word details (synonyms, antonyms, example sentences, etymology)

5) How do I restore my purchase?

Open the Premium screen and tap “Restore Purchase”. You must be signed into the same Apple ID used to purchase.

- If you enabled request protection (throttle/timeouts) in Advanced Settings, try disabling it temporarily.

- Close and reopen the app.


7) How do I save and view saved items?

Tap the bookmark icon on a word or expression result to save it. Open the Saved tab to view and tap any item to see full details.

Saved content may be available offline. Some features require an internet connection.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage
QR code history and preferences are stored locally on your device using Hive database
This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers
Deleting the app will permanently remove all local data

Cloud Storage (Firebase)
Expiring QR codes are stored in Google Firebase Firestore
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication (no personal credentials required)
Data retention: Expired QR codes may be automatically deleted after 30 days

All network communications use HTTPS encryption
Firebase security rules prevent unauthorized access to your QR codes

View your QR code history within the app
Delete individual QR codes from your history
Delete all data by uninstalling the app

You can revoke camera and photo library permissions in iOS Settings
Revoking permissions will disable related features (scanning, saving, logo upload)

Data Deletion
Delete local QR history: Open History page > Delete individual items
Delete expiring QR codes: They automatically expire and become inaccessible
Complete data removal: Uninstall the app from your device

Children's Privacy

Links to QR is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.

International Data Transfers

Firebase services may store data on servers located in different countries. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules.

Frequently Asked Questions


1) How do I change the language?

Open Settings, go to Language, and select English, Simple English, or Sinhala.


2) Voice input is not working

- Make sure microphone permission is allowed for ReframeMe in your device settings.

- If speech recognition is not available on your device, try typing instead.


3) I do not receive reminders

- Make sure notifications are enabled for ReframeMe in your device settings.

- In the app, enable the reminder toggles and set a time.

- If you previously denied notification permissions, enable them and try again.


4) The reframe results are not in my language

- Confirm you selected the language in Settings.

- Try reframing again after switching language.

- If your device is offline, AI generation may fail.


5) The app says it failed to reframe

- Check your internet connection.

- Try again in a moment.

- The App generates reframing results using an AI service.

- Thought text you enter: When you type content into the App, that content is processed to generate reframing results.

- Voice input: If you use voice dictation, your device microphone is used to capture speech and convert it to text.

Depending on device and configuration, some technical information may be processed to operate the App and keep it reliable:

- Device and app information (such as device model, OS version, app version)

- Basic diagnostic information (such as error logs)


3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

- Provide the App features, including generating reframing results

- Maintain and improve reliability, performance, and security

- Send reminder notifications only if you enable them


4. Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information.


The App uses third-party services to function:

- OpenAI API (AI generation): Thought text is sent to the OpenAI API to generate reframing content. The AI provider may process this data according to its own policies.

- Firebase (Google): The App includes Firebase packages (such as authentication and database). Firebase may process certain technical data needed to provide these services.

- Apple and Google platform services: System services may be used for push notifications and permissions.


5. Data Storage

ReframeMe may store some preferences locally on your device (for example, selected language). Additional data storage depends on features you use. If the App stores any content remotely, it is done to provide the requested functionality.

If you enable reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. You can turn reminders off at any time in the App settings or in your device settings.

### Welcome to Own Dictionary!

 

Own Dictionary is your personal vocabulary learning companion. Build your custom dictionary, organize words by categories, and sync across all your devices.

 

### First Steps

 

1. **Download the App:** Available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad

2. **Create an Account:** Sign up with email, Google, or Apple

3. **Add Your First Word:** Tap the + button to get started

4. **Explore Features:** Try search, categories, and dark mode

 

### System Requirements

 

- **iOS:** 13.0 or later

- **Devices:** iPhone, iPad

- **Internet:** Optional (app works offline)

- **Storage:** Minimal (< 50 MB)

### Creating an Account

 

**Option 1: Email & Password**

1. Tap "Sign Up"

2. Enter your email and password

3. Verify your email (check spam folder)

4. Start building your dictionary

 

**Option 2: Google Sign-In**

1. Tap "Continue with Google"

2. Select your Google account

3. Authorize Own Dictionary

4. You're ready to go!

 

**Option 3: Apple Sign-In**

1. Tap "Continue with Apple"

2. Use Face ID or Touch ID

3. Choose email visibility option

### Sign In Issues

 

**Forgot Password?**

1. Tap "Forgot Password" on login screen

2. Enter your email address

3. Check email for reset link

4. Create a new password

 

**Can't Sign In with Google/Apple?**

- Ensure you're using the same account

- Check internet connection

- Update to latest app version

- Try signing out of your Google/Apple account and back in

 

**Account Not Recognized?**

- Verify you're using the correct email

- Check if you signed up with a different method

## Adding & Managing Words

 

### Adding a New Word

 

**Standard Add:**

1. Tap the + button (bottom right)

2. Fill in word details:

   - Word (required)

   - Definition (required)

   - Example sentence (optional)

   - Synonyms (optional)

   - Antonyms (optional)

   - Personal notes (optional)

   - Category (optional)

3. Tap "Save"

 

**Quick Add Mode:**

1. Tap the + button

2. Switch to "Quick Add" tab

3. Enter just word and definition

4. Tap "Quick Save"

5. Perfect for capturing words on the go!

 

### Editing Words

 

1. Tap on any word in your list

2. Tap the edit icon (pencil)

3. Update any fields

4. Tap "Save"

 

### Deleting Words

 

**Single Word:**

- Swipe left on any word

- Tap the trash icon

- Confirm deletion

 

**Multiple Words:**

1. Long press on a word (future feature)

2. Select multiple words

3. Tap delete icon

 

### Marking Favorites

 

- Tap the star icon on any word

- Access all favorites via the filter menu

- Quick access to important words

## Cloud Sync

 

### How Cloud Sync Works

 

Your words automatically sync to the cloud when you're signed in and online. This keeps your dictionary safe and accessible across all devices.

 

### Auto-Sync Features

 

 Automatic backup of all words

### Managing Sync

 

**Enable/Disable Auto-Sync:**

1. Go to Profile

2. Find "Auto Sync" toggle

3. Turn ON (green) or OFF (grey)

 

**Manual Sync:**

- Pull down to refresh on home screen

- Sync happens automatically when changes are made

 

**Sync Status:**

- Green checkmark: Synced to cloud

- Grey circle: Local only (waiting to sync)

 

### Offline Mode

 

You can use Own Dictionary completely offline:

- Add, edit, and delete words offline

- All changes save locally

- Sync happens automatically when back online

- No internet required for core features

 

### Sync Troubleshooting

 

**Words Not Syncing?**

1. Check internet connection

2. Ensure auto-sync is enabled

3. Sign out and sign back in

4. Update to latest app version

 

**Duplicate Words After Sync?**

- Contact support with details

- We'll help resolve sync conflicts

### Available Categories

 

Own Dictionary includes 10 predefined categories:

### Assigning Categories

 

**When Adding a Word:**

- Select category from dropdown in "Optional Details"

- Default is "General" if none selected

 

**Updating Category:**

1. Edit the word

2. Change category in dropdown

3. Save changes

 

### Filtering by Category

 

1. Tap the filter icon (top of home screen)

2. Select a category

3. View only words in that category

4. Tap "Show All" to reset filter

1. Tap search icon or search bar

2. Type any keyword

3. Results update instantly

4. Search includes:

1. Apply category filter

2. Use search within filtered results

### Account Settings

 

**View Profile:**

- Email address

- Sign-in method

- Account creation date

2. Tap "Delete Account"

3. Confirm deletion
