Privacy Policy for VO2 Max Intervals

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Ashen Ishanka ("we," "us," or "our") developed VO2 Max Intervals (the "App"). This policy explains what data the App uses, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

SUMMARY

VO2 Max Intervals does not require an account, does not run its own servers, and does not collect or store your personal data on any server we operate. Your workout data stays on your device (and, if you choose to enable it, in Apple Health). The only outside party involved is Google, for the ads that support the free version of the App.

INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE

The App stores the following locally on your device, and never transmits it to us:

- Interval protocols you build or customize

- Your workout history (protocol used, duration, rounds completed, date)

- Optional profile details you choose to enter (age, sex) — used only to calculate heart rate zones and training estimates on-device

- Your language and appearance (light/dark) preferences

- The ID and name of a Bluetooth heart rate device you've connected, so the App can reconnect automatically next time

This data can be erased at any time by deleting the App.

HEALTH DATA

If you grant permission, the App reads and writes data to Apple Health (or Health Connect on Android), specifically:

- Heart rate readings, to show your live heart rate during a workout

- Completed workout sessions, so they appear in your Health history

This data is governed by Apple's (or Google's) Health platform and your own device permissions, which you can review or revoke at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. We never receive a copy of this data ourselves — it moves directly between the App and the Health platform on your device.

BLUETOOTH

The App uses Bluetooth only to scan for and connect to heart rate monitors you choose to pair with it. This requires Bluetooth permission on your device. We do not use Bluetooth for advertising, tracking, or location purposes, and no Bluetooth data leaves your device.

APPLE WATCH

If you use the optional Apple Watch companion app, heart rate data is sent directly from your Watch to your iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. It does not pass through us or any third party.

ADVERTISING

The free version of the App shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect technical information such as your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and approximate (coarse) location derived from your IP address, in order to serve and measure ads. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, so it does not access your device's IDFA for tracking you across other companies' apps or websites. Ad measurement instead relies on Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.

For more detail on how Google handles this information, see Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

Locally stored data (history, custom protocols, preferences) is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App. Health data is retained according to your Apple Health / Health Connect settings, independent of the App. You can revoke Bluetooth or Health permissions at any time from your device Settings.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date.
