 Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-02-02

This Privacy Policy describes how Explain 12 Year Language (the "App") handles information.

If you have questions, contact: ishankacostha@gmail.com

  1. Summary

  • The App helps explain words and expressions using an AI-generated response.

  • Your entered text is sent to a backend service to generate an explanation.

  • Search history, favorites, and settings are stored on your device.

  • Voice input is optional and requires microphone and speech recognition permissions.

  1. Information you provide

Text you enter
When you type or paste a word or expression, the App sends that text (and your selected language settings) to the backend so it can generate an explanation.

Do not enter sensitive personal information (for example, passwords, financial information, government IDs, or health information).

Voice input
If you choose to use voice input, the App requests access to:

  • Microphone

  • Speech recognition

The App converts your speech to text and uses the recognized text as the word/expression to explain.

The App does not intentionally store raw audio recordings.

  1. Information stored on your device

The App stores the following locally (on-device):

  • Search history

  • Favorites

  • Settings (selected languages, strict format, kid-safe mode, onboarding completion, font size)

This data stays on your device unless you choose to share it externally.

  1. Information processed by service providers

To provide explanations, the App uses:

Firebase (Google)
The App uses Firebase services for anonymous authentication and calling a backend function. As part of providing these services, Firebase may process technical information (for example, request metadata, IP address, and diagnostic logs).

AI processing
The App uses a server-side AI provider to generate the explanation text. The word/expression you submit and the requested output language are sent to the AI provider for processing.

We do not sell your personal information.

  1. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Generate explanations

  • Provide app features like history, favorites, and settings

  • Improve reliability and prevent abuse (for example, basic backend logging and rate limiting)

  1. Data retention

  • On-device data (history, favorites, settings) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.

  • Backend services may retain limited logs for operational and security purposes.

  1. Your choices and controls

You can:

  • Change the explanation/output language in Settings

  • Change the input/word language in Settings

  • Delete local search history and favorites in Settings

  • Uninstall the App to remove locally stored data

  1. Children’s privacy

The App is designed to explain words in simple language. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us at ishankacostha@gmail.com and we will work to address the issue.

  1. International users

Your information may be processed by our service providers in countries other than your own, depending on their infrastructure.

  1. Changes to this policy
